Mental Health Awareness Calendar Launch
MHF launches the 2023 mental health awareness calendar featuring various awareness themes by month and days in accordance with global mental health awareness days and local days of observation to promote, inform and engage the community in raising awareness on mental health matters.
The initiative aims to lead a year-round movement of prevention, intervention and recovery practices to improve the mental health climate within our communities. The calendar establishes a foundation for opportunities to educate and engage persons of all ages in various mental health subjects. It is intended to be updated accordingly each month as specific initiatives are planned in accord with the mental health awareness theme of the month or day.
The 2023 calendar commences with Mental Wellness Month and Work Place Mental Health Month in January. The latter will consume most of MHF’s focus in January as the global discussion on work place contribution to mental health interruptions notes it is increasing rapidly.
COVID-19 remains a prominent culprit in the cause of work-related mental health interruptions, however, personalized causes within our work-community whether cultural or situational deem adequate exploration for appropriate mitigation.
MHF proposes employers adopt its January mental health theme, “Prioritize Your Mind, Cultivate an Inspiring Work-Climate”, to open the new work-year with a positive start, and plan a work-related activity to commemorate “national fun day at work day” on January 28th or the week of.
Since September, MHF has adopted various monthly themes to promote previous mental health awareness months/days under the notion of Prioritize your mind, which stemmed from the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) 2022 theme, “Make mental health for all a global priority.” A new WFMH mental health theme is revealed every year in May, which will be reflected in the MHF mental health awareness calendar and year-theme accordingly. Henceforth, May will also officially mark the mental health new year for MHF information & prevention initiatives, starting with the reveal of the new theme and calendar in May 2023 for 2023/2024.
Persons are encouraged to follow MHF on Facebook to stay abreast of updates, information and activities. “MHF is also open to collaborate with interested stakeholders to jointly engage in efforts relevant to the calendar and welcomes allies to help stimulate a movement on mental health prevention,” noted MHF Psychologist/information & preventions officer, Ms. Emmalexis Velasquez.
